8 Tips for a Better Flight

Here’s How to Improve Your Experience

Whether you love flying or you’re terrified of flying, there are always ways to make a flight better. Here are some of our EWR Airport parking staff’s favorite tips for a smooth ride:

Hydration

With the combination of the dry circulated air and the high elevation, you’ll get off the plane with skin that looks dull and dry. To avoid dehydration and keep a bright complexion, make sure you drink plenty of water during the flight. We recommend bringing a refillable water bottle with you. This way, you won’t have to wait until beverage service to drink up.

Layers

You never know what the temperature will be like on a plane, so it’s a good idea to layer up. Wear or pack a sweater, sweatshirt, or jacket that you can use in case the ride is cold and that you can take off if the ride is hot. This also comes in handy while you’re in the airport and during layovers.

“Exercise”

If you’re on a long-haul flight, get up every once in awhile to exercise. We don’t mean do jumping jacks or push ups – just get out of your seat and take a little walk. You’ll help improve your circulation and keep your legs or feet from falling asleep.

Noise-Canceling Headphones

Noise-canceling headphones can be life savers on a noisy flight. Whether there’s a crying baby behind you or a loud-talking man in the row next to you, you can simply pop on your headphones and drown out the sound. They’re also great for keeping things quiet so you can get some sleep.

Hand Sanitizer

Every day, thousands of people board and de-board the same plane, which means germs are everywhere. Bring some hand sanitizer with you and make sure you use it to avoid getting sick. Pay special attention to surfaces in the bathroom, seatbelt buckles, and the fold-down tray table in front of you. These are the places that harbor the most bacteria.

Snacks

Long flights mean you’re bound to get hungry and instead of paying for the overpriced (and usually minimal selection of) snacks, try bringing your own. Our EWR Airport parking staff suggests packing things that are easy to munch on like dried fruit, nuts, trail mix, crackers, or rice cakes.

Entertainment

There’s nothing worse than getting to the airport and realizing you forgot your book, magazine, mp3 player, or tablet to keep you busy on the plane. Before you leave the house, double-check that you have a source of entertainment to keep you busy on the flight.

Parking

Less stress means a better flight, and instead of parking at EWR and worrying about the safety of your car, park with Vista. Our valet service has been trusted by travelers for years, and you’ll be able to sit back and relax knowing your car is in good hands.
