Every year, millions of travelers make their way through airports and onto their flights to see loved ones, take a vacation, go somewhere for business, and more. And every year, millions of travelers stock up on essentials for their trip.
Hudson Group, the largest travel retailers in North America, conducted a study to see what the most popular items are that people buy in an airport and from their findings, it looks like travelers like to stay hydrated.
1. Dasani bottled water (20 oz)
2. Glaceau Smartwater (20 oz)
3. Large Dasani (one liter)
4. Glaceau Smartwater (one liter)
5. Glaceau Smartwater (23.8 oz)
6. Diet Coke (20 oz)
7. Coca-Cola (20 oz)
8. M&M Peanuts (king-size)
9. Coca-Cola Zero (20 oz)
10. The Wall Street Journal
Among other popular newspapers were New York Post, The New York Times, and USA Today while the most popular magazines were US Weekly, In Touch, The Economist, Life & Style, Star, Vanity Fair, and OK. Popular books included “Bossypants” by Tina Fey, “American Sniper” by Chris Kyle, and “David and Goliath” by Malcolm Gladwell.
Hudson News has been a popular source of news since 1918 but recently, the company decided to drop the “News” from its name to become more appealing to travelers. As traveler preferences have changed, so have the products that the stands sell (which today, includes phone and tablet chargers, headphones, healthier snacks, flavored waters, and more). You can find Hudson kiosks in virtually every major airport in the country, so the next time you travel, you can stop by for your essentials.
What’s one thing you always travel with?
